Microneedling

Microneedling is a collagen induction therapy that produces smoother, firmer, softer skin with reduced pigment abnormalities, and diminished fine and coarse lines. At shorter needle depths, microneedling is effective at enhancing the penetration of topical actives.  At deeper needle depths, microneedling creates injury within the deeper dermal layers. The procedure induces a natural healing response without the trauma caused by ablative treatments that destroy tissue. Cellular injury initiates cascades of endogenous cytokines that promote cellular proliferation and collagenesis. Injury into deeper layers also creates capillary bleeding that results in platelet growth factor and cytokine release that enhance certain aspects of the healing process but also promote an inflammatory response.
